 Medhi Baghdad

Mehdi Baghdad has remarkably achieved the highest title possible in Muay Thai, as the current WKBC World Champion. “The Sultan of” Baghdad is a Muay Thai and combat sports legend in France and other parts of the world.

In 2001, at the age of 16, he began Muay Thai and Kempo fighting. A natural talent, it only took two years before he joined the semi-pro team, The Banner. At 20 years of age, in 2005, Mehdi travelled many miles to Brazil in order to train with Daniel Woirin, one of the greatest Muay Thai coaches alive. Mehdi gained experience, going head-to-head with some of the best fighters in Muay Thai with Team Black House and then Team Minotouro, and sparring with Anderson Silva, Vitor Belfort, Junior Dos Santos and the Nogueira Brothers. During this period, Mehdi paid his dues, fighting in five major pro events.

Mehdi returned to France as a more seasoned fighter, and ready for his next challengers. There, he received the guidance of Muay Thai fighter-turned-coach and manager, Eric Albert. Mehdi’s career from that point skyrocketed and he racked up fighting victories and titles. Since 2011, Mehdi has held the title of World Champion Muay Thai WKBC.

Following that extraordinary win, Mehdi was signed by Team Quest, in Temecula, California, USA, where he currently lives. Mehdi now trains together with Dan “Hendo” Henderson, Tierry “The African Assassin” Sokoudjou, Jesse “JT Money” Taylor, Tarec “Sponge” Saffiedine and is reunited with Coach Daniel Woirin.

Having made his name in other parts of the world, Mehdi is now on the rise in the USA and considered an up-and-coming MMA star.
